In order to develop, promote and  disseminate knowledge about women’s roles in society and economic trends which affect women’s lives and status –

1. -Undertakes, promotes and coordinates both fundamental and applied research on women and development.
2. Organises and assists training programmes for scholars, planners, administrators, development agents, communicators, members of women’s organisations/ cooperatives etc.
3. -Promotes and collaborates with academic institutions, grassroots level organisations and individuals engaged
   in allied activities
